Calling Marketers' and Sales PeopleImmediate Past District Governor Eric Wright has opened a loose grouping for 'ideas men and women' and invites all those with any marketing, sales and promotional experience to contribute suggestions. "We're not going to form another committee, but we do invite those with entreneurial ideas to join what is likely to be an occasional phone and online forum," he said. "What we really want is to get inventive suggestions from Lions on recruiting new members, forming new clubs and expanding the organisation. We have a lot of well tried and tested methods which serve us well. But we want to 'push the envelope' with ever more creative ideas from people. "Anyone who wants to can join and we'll never shoot suggestions down. There won't be any meetings or travel involved. But I'd love to hear from Lions who have something to contribute. Hopefully it will turn into fun and we'll circulate ideas among the whole District. "There is sure to be lots of untapped creative solutions out there. Help us turn on that tap. Road to SafetyThe Road to Safety manual can be downloaded from the British and Irsih Lions website. Membership Drive Starts for SkiptonReviving the fortunes of Skipton and Craven Club was the subject of a meeting held on 10 January in Skipton, the historic gateway to the Yorkshire Dales. Attending from Skipton and Craven Lions was Derek Evans and from the Global Membership Team were PDG Eric Wright, Zone Chairman David McDowell, Brian Yeoman from the new Bramley and Wickersley Club, John Hall from Bridlington and PRO Nigel Perry. Skipton and Craven was chartered in 1964 and has long been one of the most succesful and enterprising clubs in the District. But the past few years have taken its toll and the club is now down to just a few members. To ensure the club is not lost to Lions the GMT is formulating plans to revive the club by assisting the Club to attract new Lions. In our photo at the planning meeting are left to right Derek Evans, Eric Wright, John Hall, David MacDowell and Brian Yeoman. Lions Clubs InternationalMore Volunteers Doing More Community Work in More Places than Any Other Service Club OrganizationWhen it comes to meeting challenges, the Lions response is simple: “We serve”. In 206 countries, in hospitals and senior centres, in regions battered by natural disaster, in schools and eyeglass recycling centres, Lions are doing community volunteer work, helping, leading, planning and supporting. Because we're local, we can serve the unique needs of the communities we live in. And because we're global, we can address any challenges that go beyond borders.
