Annual Convention, 12-14 February 2010

A message from District Governor Lion Janet Weatherill

I am delighted to extend a very warm welcome to all Lions, Lionesses. Leos, wives, partners and friends attending our 45th Annual Convention in the very attractive Floral Spa Town of Harrogate.

The dates are 12th February until 14th February 2010 and the venue is the well known "Caim Hotel" situated on Ripon Road, Harrogate which apart from being an excellent venue is also central fior the town of Harrogate.

Our District Convention team are workng hard to make this a very special event possibly a little different, but always with the objective that we will have a fun and friendship weekend

As you will have noticed the date is Valentine's Day, hence for the Friday Host Night we had to have a theme to match, and what better than Red for Romance, we are leaving fancy dress as an option on this.

Many Lions of the Lions Family have never been to District Convention and many would say "It's not for me" but perhaps it could be, so why not consider giving it a try? It is your organisation and we really do need to find ways to attract more of our clubs and members to take an active part.

So what can you expect at convention? Well you will rneet past friends and make many new ones, you will have fun and fellowship, good food and entertainment, and you will hear about the many projects that Lions are taking part in, be able to join in discussion on what the future may hold for your organisation. There will of course be serious moments but the accent will be on enjoyment.

Saturday is the start of the business session, we are still in the process of organising for this but we do promise varied and interesting speakers with many topics of interest to all present, the discussion will also be a time to discover more about the Lions Organisation at District, Multiple District and International levels.

Saturday evening brings us to the clirnax of our great weekend with a Banquet arnl Ball. Our International guest will join us together with Mayor of Harrogate, I promise that speeehes will be brief and the food will be excellent. Dress is formal black tie. For those with energy left we will end the evening dancing or simply in relaxed conversation

I look forward to seeing as many as possible joining us. Together we will make this a weekend to remember.

DG Janet
