Lioness Conference

Along with my Club President, two other Lionesses and District Lioness Chairman Lion John, I was very pleased to be able to attend the 22nd Multiple District Lioness Conference which was held at the Ramada Jarvis Hotel Gloucester, from 19th to 21st February 2010.

The Conference was hosted by Dursley Lioness Club and chaired by Multiple District Lioness Chairman Phyllis King and Multiple District Lioness Co-ordinator Lion Chris Ramsden.

The Conference started on the Friday night with pig racing (fluffy pink ones) in deference to the spotted Gloucester pig.

Right at the end No 2 stopped to feed and No 6 eventually finished first.

Saturday morning started with the Flag Ceremony, the invocation, in memoriam and the official opening by the Mayor of Gloucester followed by the business meeting. Saturday afternoon we had our Keynote Speaker Susan Marshfield whose talk was entitled "A bit of this and that" which was some of the very funny experiences in her life. On Saturday night we had the official Banquet and a very good disco to follow.

Sunday morning we had a presentation of the “Eve Appeal” (Gynaecological Research Charity). This was Multiple District Lioness Chairman Phyllis's Charity and she presented a cheque for £1951-58. We then had an update from MD Speech and Hearing Officer Lion Penny Tregillus.

The Conference closed at 12-30 on the Sunday.

There were Special Guests who attended parts of the Conference --Our own District Governor Lion Janet Weatherill and PDG Lion Peter, Chairman of Council PDG Lion Andy Pemberton and his wife and PID Phil Nathan.

Everyone agreed it had been an excellent weekend.

Pontefract Lioness Club are very proud to be hosting the next Multiple District Lioness Conference at the Cedar Court Hotel Wakefield, from February 18th-20th 2011.Why not come and join us and we will show you ow to party.

Lioness Doreen Holmes
Secretary Pontefract Lioness Club.
