Bands march on Bethel Street to the Town Hall Square where they perform their Contest Hymn Tune and Contest March.
Bands are from Youth up to Championship level
26 bands will take part and the contest begins at 1pm. and usually the prize giving is around 7pm.
Prizes are again increased this year and once more Yamaha-Kemble Music (UK) are the main sponsors with the presentation of a brand new Yamaha "Xeno" cornet for the Best Soloist.
The winners will receive an invitation to the EuroBrass 2011 Contest in the Netherlands.
2009 Champions were The Marsden Silver Prize Band.
